Anchorage police say they are investigating the death of a man was found Sunday morning in downtown Anchorage with trauma to his lower body.
Police and the Anchorage Fire Department were called to the 600 block of Third Avenue around 11:10 a.m. for a report of an unconscious man, the police department wrote in an online statement. The man was declared dead when medics arrived.
“During the investigation officers discovered trauma to the victim’s lower body,” police said in the statement. “While the circumstances surrounding the death are still under investigation, police have deemed it suspicious in nature.”
The State Medical Examiner Office will determine the cause of death.
Police did not immediately identify the man or provide further information about the circumstances surrounding the death, including how he was wounded.
