Anchorage Police Department schedules ‘listening session’ on policies for officer body cameras

The Anchorage Police Department this month will hold a listening session on policies for its new officer bodycams and has released a draft of the policy for residents to review beforehand.

The department says the draft policy, available online in APD’s policies and procedures manual under 3.10.110 Body-Worn Cameras, is to be used as a reference for developing an official APD policy.

Those interested in speaking at the session from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Bettye Davis East High School can sign up upon arrival. Speakers will have two minutes each to give recommendations to the panel.

Since the event is in-person, virtual participation won’t be available, though it will be streamed online, police said.
