Online forums for Anchorage mayor and school board candidates set for Monday evening

Anchorage voters on Monday have two opportunities to watch candidates in the upcoming municipal election during two online forums.

Candidates for Anchorage mayor and for school board will speak about the policies and ideas they would bring to office.

The 2021 municipal election is April 6, and ballots will begin arriving in mailboxes on Tuesday.

The two-hour West Anchorage School Board Candidates Forum starts at 6 p.m. Monday on Zoom and is hosted by the Spenard, Turnagain, North Star and Sand Lake community councils.

There are four school board seats up for election this year, with multiple candidates for each, and 14 have confirmed they will participate in the forum.

A virtual forum for Anchorage mayoral candidates is being hosted by Anchorage Faith & Action Congregations Together and runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Candidates will speak about what they see as the most pressing issues facing the city. Residents can watch the forum on Facebook Live or register to watch over Zoom.
