Two men died late Wednesday in a collision on East Tudor Road involving three vehicles, Anchorage police said.
Officers responded at about 9:30 p.m. to reports of collisions between Baxter and Patterson roads and later determined one vehicle -- a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee -- was involved in both.
The Jeep was eastbound on Tudor when it sideswiped a Chevrolet Impala sedan near Baxter and then kept going, police said.
The female driver of the Impala called 911 to report the incident, police spokesman MJ Thim said. The driver and a female passenger received minor injuries.
About a half mile farther along Tudor, the Jeep entered the center turn lane, drifted into oncoming traffic near Patterson and collided head-on with a 2004 Subaru Legacy, Thim said.
Both drivers, who were alone in the vehicles, were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing a seat belt.
Police said an investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing. Investigators have not ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor, Thim said.
Police are not identifying the victims until next-of-kin are notified.
Tudor Road was reopened early Thursday after a four-hour closure.
