Anchorage police say they located the suspect vehicle – and its young driver – that struck and seriously injured a woman in a hit-and-run Monday night in East Anchorage.
"The driver, a juvenile female, is cooperating with investigators," the Anchorage Police Department said in a public alert Monday night at 10:45 p.m.
A pedestrian had been crossing Tudor Road at Folker Street when she was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured Monday around 7:37 p.m. The driver fled the scene and the woman was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said in a written statement.
The westbound lanes of Tudor Road between Piper and Laurel streets were closed while officers investigated the collision.
Police said in the second alert that they found the suspect. They said the victim was not in a cross walk when she was hit.
The 2006 Chrysler 300 car was found in the 3200 block of Wolcott Circle, not far from the intersection of Tudor and Elmore Road.
Authorities impounded the vehicle for evidence. They have asked that anyone who may have witnessed the crash call 3-1-1 (option #1).
