Anchorage police are working to identify a decomposed body discovered Wednesday evening near Alaska Railroad tracks in South Anchorage.
Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said in a statement Thursday that a citizen reported finding the remains off Huffman Road near Old Seward Highway at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
"Officers responded and located the remains," Castro wrote. "There was nothing immediately suspicious discovered at the scene."

Castro said the person who found the body had been walking in the area. Police weren't able to readily identify the person's age or gender, or estimate how long the body had been there.
The State Medical Examiner Office collected the remains for identification and to conduct an autopsy to determine cause of death.
