One person found dead after residential fire in Nome

Alaska State Troopers identified 67-year-old Darrel Williams of Nome as the man who died in the fire.

One person died in a residential fire Tuesday in Nome, Alaska State Troopers said.

The Nome Fire Department responded with troopers to a blaze on Dexter Bypass Road around 9 p.m., troopers wrote in an online statement. The home, described as a trailer, was a total loss by the time the fire was extinguished, troopers said.

On Wednesday morning, firefighters found the remains of an adult inside, troopers wrote. The State Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the person.

“An Alaska Department of Public Safety Deputy Fire Marshal is responding to Nome to determine the origin and cause of the fire,” troopers wrote.
