Three people died and four were injured in a fiery crash near Kenai on Saturday, police said.
A small passenger car was southbound “at a high rate of speed” on the Kenai Spur Highway near Mile 15 when it passed a vehicle on the right side, went out of control and crossed into oncoming traffic around 5 p.m., the Kenai Police Department wrote on Facebook. The car collided with a northbound pickup truck, police said.
“Both vehicles caught fire and witnesses pulled passengers from the burning wreckage,” police wrote.
All three people in the car died and the four people in the pickup were brought to Central Peninsula Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
“Investigation is ongoing to identify the deceased and notify the next of kin,” police wrote.
