Due to the new coronavirus, a growing number of Alaska events and meetings are being canceled, postponed or held remotely. State officials announced the first positive case of COVID-19 on Thursday evening.
Here’s what we know so far. We’ll keep updating this list as the situation develops.

• Closed: All state-operated libraries, archives, and museums, March 14-March 31. All public programs and events scheduled in those facilities are suspended.
• Closed: The Anchorage School District’s Education Center will be closed through March 30.
• Canceled: all Anchorage Museum public programming has been canceled through April 6.
• Postponed: AARP Foundation Tax Aide Program assistance at all sites until further notice.
• Canceled: Alyeska Resort Ski Bus. Also, block 3 of the Discover skiing and snowboarding program (all participants will receive a full refund)
• Canceled: All Anchorage Public Library events, March 14-31, Anchorage. (Libraries are closed until March 31.)
• Canceled: Iditarod events at Nome city facilities, which with the exception of City Hall, will be closed until the end of March.
• Postponed: Alaska’s state high school basketball tournaments and any conference tournaments, scheduled to start after March 14.
• Canceled: Lonnie O’Connor Iditarod Basketball Classic in Nome, scheduled March 15-21.
• Canceled: Arctic Winter Games, scheduled to begin March 15, Whitehorse, Yukon.
• Canceled: Special Olympics Alaska Winter Games, March 15-17, Anchorage.
• Postponed: Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska “ABC’s of Caregiving,” “Memory Cafe,” “Art Links” painting workshop and other programs in Anchorage, Juneau, Mat-Su (see calendar for details)
• Postponed: Tanana Chiefs Conference annual convention, March 16-19, Fairbanks.
• Postponed: St. Patrick’s Day Ceilidh at Hard Rock Cafe, March 17, Anchorage.
