We tend to lean on the image of the resilient Alaskan, but some will be dealing with fear and anxiety from this earthquake for a while. If this describes you, know that a lot of people are in the same boat. It’s a normal, common reaction to a very sudden, very frightening event.

A short thread for those who won’t be able to sleep tonight. I read an interview with a survivor of the ’64 quake who said that sometimes a room would remind him of where he was when that earthquake hit, and he would have to go outside. This was 50 years later.

Here's a map showing the magnitude 7.0 along with all of the aftershocks we reviewed in the 7 hours after the quake. Most aftershocks have not yet been reviewed and are not on this map, but these precise locations give a good overview of the sequence so far. pic.twitter.com/FM7oZL7t4n
— AK Earthquake Center (@AKearthquake) December 1, 2018
We've had a slight uptick in aftershocks large enough to be felt over the last hour. A M4.3 at 8:25, a M4.7 at 8:32, and then a M3.8 at 9:08. The M4.7 is not showing on our website due to a glitch, but yes, you did feel it.
