Former Alaskan wins a Pulitzer prize

A former Alaskan shared American journalism's top honor with two other reporters for their efforts to expose the killing campaign behind Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs, the Pulitzer Prize board announced Monday.

Clare Baldwin, a special correspondent for Reuters, was part of the Reuters team that won the 2018 Pulitzer for International Reporting for Duterte's War, a series that ran last year.

Baldwin, born and raised in Alaska, previously wrote for The Frontiersman, The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner and The Peninsula Clarion, among other publications, the board said.

She shared the award with Andrew R.C. Marshall, Southeast Asia special correspondent for Reuters, and Manuel Mogato, Reuters' political and general news correspondent in Manila.
