2 die in Aniak when snowmachine hits moose

Two people were found dead early Saturday in Aniak after their snowmachine collided with a moose, according to a report from Alaska State Troopers.

The bodies of Charles Lang Jr., 28, and Kayden Morgan, 16, were found near the village basketball courts off of Airport Boulevard at about 7 a.m., troopers said.

The collision appeared to have happened on the road and caused both to be thrown off the snowmachine, troopers said. The moose was found in nearby woods and was dead, troopers said.

Aniak is a community of 450 people on the Kuskokwim River. The trooper report said alcohol "is believed to be a factor" in the collision.
