Police said they are investigating a South Anchorage collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist Monday, which sent the bicyclist to the hospital with critical head injuries.
At about 4:15 p.m., officers responded to the area of Abbott Road and Sandlewood Drive in reference to the collision, police said in a statement.
"What is known at this time is that both the vehicle and the bicyclist were traveling westbound on Abbott, just east of the New Seward (Highway) overpass, when they collided," police said. "The dynamics of the crash are still being determined."
The bicyclist was described as an adult who was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Abbott Road moving westbound, at Sandlewood Drive, will be shut down while police investigate.
