Cody Kunyk, who scored two assists in the Alaska Aces' first win of the hockey season, has been recalled by Alaska's American Hockey League affiliate.
The Utica Comets of the AHL assigned Kunyk to the Aces last week. His recall leaves the Aces with four centers — Stephen Perfetto, Tim Coffman, Ben Lake and Daniel Moynihan.
Kunyk, 26, was the WCHA player of the year for the Nanooks of UAF in 2013-14. He played in both of the Aces' games last weekend in Colorado and provided two assists in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Eagles.
In a separate transaction Tuesday, the Aces claimed defenseman Nolan Descoteaux off waivers from the Allen Americans.
Descoteaux, 27, is a 6-foot-1, 205-pounder who played for four ECHL teams last season, appearing in 42 games and scoring two goals and seven assists for nine points. In two games this season with the Americans, he registered no points and two penalty minutes.
The Aces open their home season Friday at Sullivan Arena with a game against the Rapid City Rush.
