Man, woman found on Ship Creek Trail died in double homicide, police say

Anchorage police have identified the two people found dead along a downtown bike path Sunday, and say their deaths are now being investigated as a double homicide.

Police identified the victims as Anchorage residents Brianna Foisy, 20, and Jason Netter Sr., 41. Their bodies were discovered on the Ship Creek Trail, west of Post Road and Viking Drive, at about 7:45 a.m. Sunday.

At that time, police said the two "do not appear to have died from natural causes."

On Tuesday, police said they were not releasing the cause of death, and no suspects were in custody in connection with the deaths.

Anchorage Police Department spokesperson Anita Shell said Tuesday morning Foisy and Netter had known each other, but it wasn't clear for how long.

"I'm not sure what the relationship status was, but they were acquaintances," Shell said.

According to Shell, there wasn't any indication the victims' bodies had been moved, and indications suggest they were discovered soon after their deaths. No suspects have been identified so far.

Shell said Foisy and Netter's deaths are Anchorage's second double homicide of the year.

On Jan. 28, Selena Mullenax, 19, and Foreignne Aubert-Morissette, 20, were found dead at Point Woronzof near Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

Police have asked the public for information in the case, but haven't released further information since their initial investigation.

Anyone with information on either the Ship Creek Trail or Point Woronzof case is asked to contact police at 786-8900 or Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP or its website.
