‘Teaming With Microbes’ podcast: Lights, mites and spiders?

Jeff and Jonathan discuss various lighting systems for winter gardening, plus much more.

Welcome to our weekly podcast with longtime Anchorage Daily News garden writer and author Jeff Lowenfels and co-host Jonathan White. Think of it as a companion to Jeff’s weekly columns and his popular series of books.

As fall transitions into winter, Jeff and Jonathan discuss plants that don’t require much light (short day plants), including chrysanthemums, poinsettias and various cacti. Additionally, the duo discusses various indoor lighting systems.

Later, the guys talk about insects that might move indoors for the winter, and why you might want to keep some of them around!

As always, the episode wraps up with some listener questions.
