According to numerous sources, Anchorage's Holly Brooks has tidied up some unfinished business by winning the women's freestyle event at the American Birkebeiner cross-country ski race, the nation's largest, on Saturday.
In 2009's Birkebeiner, Brooks came in second on a photo finish, and her win in 2012 was no less exciting.
"I definitely had flashbacks of three years ago and just kind of kept my head up," Brooks told FasterSkier.com.
After more than two hours of toil in the 50-kilometer race, Brooks edged out Caitlin Gregg in a sprint to the finish line by half a second.
