Apple Store reportedly chooses Anchorage location

Apple Computer Inc. has such a leak-free ship there's very little way to substantiate these reports, but get ready to "eep," Alaska Apple fanatics. According to a few unofficial, all-things-Apple blogs, Anchorage is about to get its own Apple Store. The Apple Store tracking blog, ifoAppleStore.com, reports "sources in the real estate and construction industry" have said that representatives from Apple have traveled to Anchorage and chosen a spot for what will become the farthest north retail Apple Store in the world (sorry, Fairbanks). The site? A storefront on the second floor of the Fifth Avenue Mall which will be soon be vacated by Eddie Bauer. (Don't worry, the faux outfitter will just be moving downstairs.) The blog guesses the new store could open by Thanksgiving. Read more and see a floor map with a big, red block that looks like a Genius Bar when one squints, here.
