Four pedestrians have died so far this week in the Anchorage area after vehicles struck them.

The decision follows accusations from the city’s former finance administrator that Mayor Tariek Oviok misused public funds, as well as escalating tensions between the mayor and the council over the resulting investigation.

Chugach Electric said the outage, which also knocked out power to several traffic lights, could last several hours.
