A growing number of schools are considering restrictions on smartphones amid a wave of research showing digital devices can have detrimental impacts on learning and mental health.

Darrell Evans, president of the Anchorage Police Department Employees Association, said in a statement Friday night that 14 recent homicides and seven police shootings “reveal the chaos our city is facing.”
