Norris, Kramer win Cirque Series races at Alyeska

David Norris and Kendall Kramer earned victories at the Cirque Series race at Alyeska on Saturday.

Norris, who earlier this month set a course record in winning the men’s race at Mount Marathon, finished the 10K course in 1 hour, 4 minutes and 5 seconds. That was good enough to top the next-closest competitor by 59 seconds. Boulder, Colorado racer David Kennedy finished second at 1:05:04.

Norris, a 33-year-old originally from Fairbanks, is a national champion skier and has now won five times at Mount Marathon. Now a coach at the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club in Colorado, Norris was recently named part of Team USA for Period 1 of the 2024-25 World Cup season.

Wasilla’s Joshua Taylor finished third.

Kramer, a standout skier and runner at UAF, won the women’s race in a time of 1:18:21, more than six minutes clear of the rest of the field.

Kramer, who competed in high school at West Valley, finished second at Mount Marathon this year. Aly Walford, of Exshaw, Alberta, finished second in 1:24:27. Alaskan Rosie Frankowski also finished in the top five with a time of 1:30:38.

The Cirque Series, which includes six races, moves to Alta, Utah, on Aug. 17.
