Letters to the Editor

Letter: Patriotism or egotism

We are at a crossroads to either further our diversity and advancements, slow in coming, for mutual respect or remain in the echo chambers of misinformation, half-truths and acrimony.

I am now watching an excellent series on Benjamin Franklin and his efforts to secure French military support in 1776. Michael Douglas is 79, indicating age is not an issue for performing one’s duties, as required.

I am puzzled by Kriner’s Diner years ago misguided renaming French toast to American toast when the French fought with us to establish our republic in 1776. In 2003, the French government only told the truth that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. We must remember history correctly or live foolishly in our ignorance of actual, factual information.

Thousands died or later had serious PTSD issues as a result of non-elected advisors convincing a gullible U.S. president to basically instigate mass murder under the guise of a necessary war. I miss Walter Cronkite: “And that is the way it is.”
