Letter: Balance and partisanship

I got a good chuckle out of Mayor Dave Bronson’s recent commentary. He made a pitch for diversification between the Assembly and mayor’s office as being a healthy balance. Gosh, what a noble notion in a setting that’s supposed to be nonpartisan. But I couldn’t help recalling years ago how stars being aligned was cast as a positive thing by a “conservative.”

I have to wonder if Mayor Bronson would write an entirely different line if the sense of the Assembly was aligned with his nonpartisan sensibilities. The rest of the piece simply wandered off into obviously marketed feel-good bromides. For example, he had little to do with Amazon or Santos deciding to set up shop here. Permitting staff did far more of the heavy lifting just doing their nonpartisan job.
