Laura Fox topped of field of more than 150 runners — about half of them men — by recording the fastest time in Saturday's Anchorage RunFest Mile.
Fox completed a one-mile loop around a section of the Delaney Park Strip in 5 minutes, 11 seconds. She was two-tenths of a second faster than Matthew Perkins of Washington, D.C., who won the men's race.
Fox was more than a minute ahead of women's runner-up Taryn Oleson (6:15). Perkins held a four-second lead over men's runner-up Brian Haviland (5:15).
The race was part of this weekend's Anchorage RunFest, which continues Sunday with a marathon, half-marathon, 49-kilometer ultra and a 5K. All of the races start and end downtown.
