The Alaska contingent at the Rio Olympics is small but mighty.
Three of the four athletes have already won Olympic medals. Trapshooter Corey Cogdell-Unrein of Eagle River won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijng Games. Long jumper Janay DeLoach, an Eielson High graduate, won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Games. And marksman Matt Emmons, a four-year standout on the UAF riflery team, won gold in 2004, silver in 2008 and bronze in 2012.
Making her Olympic debut will be Eagle River's Alev Kelter, who is a U.S. star in women's rugby sevens, which is also making its Olympic debut.
