West rallied from a double-digit deficit to earn a 77-73 win over East on Saturday night in the Class 4A boys state basketball championship game at Sullivan Arena.
West's win was the eighth straight state 4A title for teams from Alaska's largest city and the 13th in the past 14 seasons. It was the Eagles' ninth state title, giving them the third-most in Class 4A boys history. East leads all 4A boys teams with 16 championships, followed by Juneau with 11.

With a state championship at stake, Sitka's Sidney Riggs was right where she wanted to be Saturday afternoon -- and right where the Valdez Buccaneers feared she would be.
Riggs, a senior playing in her second state championship game, sank nine free throws in the final quarter, including three in the final 35 seconds, to lift Sitka to a 53-50 victory over Valdez in the Class 3A title game at Sullivan Arena
