Cook Inlet Conference girls basketball got wins from host Dimond and Chugiak in Wednesday's opening round of the Dimond Lady Lynx Shootout, but three other CIC teams fell.

Meanwhile, two Fairbanks teams – Lathrop and West Valley – each cruised. Valley teams went 2-1, Southeast teams went 2-1, Peninsula teams went 0-2 and Point Hope, the only non-Class 4A team in the field, lost its opener.

The 16-team tournament that draws teams from throughout the state, and affords them each four games in four days, breaks down into two brackets beginning Thursday. Wednesday's winners head into the Gold bracket and Wednesday's losers move into the Maroon bracket.
