One day after an Anchorage grand jury indicted the former network manager for the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corp. on 76 charges of possession and distribution of child pornography, he was arrested on the other side of the country, Alaska State Troopers report.
Gene Geisler, 38, was arrested without incident early Thursday morning by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office at a home off of Mapleridge Drive in the Goose Creek area of Berkeley County, South Carolina, according to the report of his arrest.
Geisler collected illegal material in part by using the YKHC hospital's network infrastructure and used his home computer to download images and videos, an affidavit said. A prosecutor told Alaska Dispatch News Wednesday that Geisler's cache -- an estimated 2 million images and 13,000 videos -- was the largest collection of child sexual exploitation images and videos officials had ever encountered in the state.
Geisler is being held in South Carolina at the Hill-Finkles Detention Center pending extradition, troopers said.
