Lisa Demer landed in Anchorage in 1994 to work for the Daily News. She's been a reporter for about 25 years at five different newspapers, starting at a small twice-weekly near Athens, Ga., and winding her way to The Tampa Tribune in Florida before moving here.
For the Daily News, Demer covers social issues as well as politics. She's particularly interested in stories about the place where government policy intersects with people's lives.
She often writes about what kind of job the state does in helping vulnerable people such as abused children and poor families. Lately she's been part of a team of reporters investigating political corruption in Alaska and reporting on an ongoing federal criminal probe.
