According to CBC News, biologists in the Northwest Territories say genetic testing has confirmed that the unusual-looking bear shot on the sea ice April 8 near the Arctic community of Ulukhaktok was indeed a rare grizzly-polar bear hybrid. Not only was the bear itself a hybrid, but its mother was one also. That means that there is at least one other of the rare 'grolar' (or Alaska Beat's favorite, 'pizzly') bears still in the wild. The hunter who shot the bear has put up the pelt for sale to the highest bidder, and the price is up to $15,000 already. Read more, here.
