A Juneau man was flown to a hospital from Mount Juneau after he was injured in a Friday fall and slide on the mountain above Alaska's capital, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers said in a Friday dispatch that they were informed at about 9:30 a.m. about the injured hiker, 57-year-old Tim Haugh.
"Investigation revealed (Haugh) was hiking the Mount Juneau trail when he lost balance while crossing a section of the trail that was covered in snow," troopers wrote. "Haugh slid down the mountain approximately 200 feet before coming to a stop."
Haugh called 911 from his cellphone, and passersby also offered him help.
According to troopers, Capital City Fire and Rescue teams, members of Juneau Mountain Rescue and a local helicopter company were able to fly Haugh to Bartlett Regional Hospital later Friday for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Hospital staff said Haugh was treated and released that day.
