Juneau police say a 47-year-old Alaska man's body was found near the Brotherhood Bridge on Friday afternoon.
Next of kin for Peter James Wool were notified Friday of his death, according to a police statement. A woman called 911 at about 3 p.m. Friday to report "a person lying down in the grass" near the bridge over the Mendenhall River, with police and medics from Capital City Fire and Rescue responding.
"Foul play is not suspected," officers wrote.
Wool's body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner Office in Anchorage for an autopsy, as police continue an investigation.
Another man also died in Juneau on Friday, police said. Juneau resident Joseph Patrick Rafferty, 77, passed away at a local hospital Friday evening after he was struck by a car on Willoughby Avenue at about 1 p.m. that afternoon.
