Sullivan blames Obama for slow economic growth in Republican address

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Dan Sullivan blamed President Barack Obama's administration for lagging economic growth in Saturday's weekly Republican address.

Sullivan has long pointed to the rate of growth of the nation's gross domestic product (GDP) as a failure of the Obama administration. The GDP is an economic indicator that represents the dollar value all of the goods and services produced within the country over a period of time.

Sullivan said Saturday that the rate of GDP growth -- 0.5 percent during the first quarter of this year -- "is a reminder of what we already know; our economy is stagnant. The 'American Dream' has become a mirage for millions of American families."
