Prep baseball: Service rallies, South rolls

Service 6, West 4

Derek Scoggins ripped a two-run double in the top of the seventh inning Friday to lift Service past West 6-4 in a Cook Inlet Conference baseball game at Mulcahy Stadium.

Service trailed by three runs entering the seventh. After Ronan Klancher got things going with a leadoff triple, the Cougars loaded the bases with a hit batsman and intentional walk.

Klancher scored on the second walk of the inning to tie the game, 4-4. That brought up Scoggins, who won the game with his one-out double.

West went down in order in the bottom of the seventh. Service pitcher Raleigh Pigg struck out the first two batters and got the third out on an infield grounder.

West took a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning on Thomas Zettler's two-run single. Declan Demmeyer went 3 for 4 for the Eagles.

South 20, Bartlett 1

Thirteen players tallied hits, 11 scored runs and eight drove in runs Friday in South's 20-1 CIC baseball win over Bartlett at Mulcahy Stadium.

Three South pitchers combined for a five-inning no-hitter, but they weren't able to shut out Bartlett, which scored an unearned run in the third inning.

Chase Subitch and Max Costello each drove in three runs and Hunter Johnson had three hits to lead the Wolverines.
