Seventeen UAA track and field athletes -- 10 women and seven men -- have been named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's All-Academic Team.
Senior heptathlete Karolin Anders, who delivered a 3.79 grade-point average while studying for a master's degree in English, made the cut for the third straight season. She already has a bachelor's degree in history.
To qualify for the team, an athlete must be at least a sophomore, be in their second season at their school, be a letter winner and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher.
Among Seawolves women, Jamie Ashcroft, Hayley Bezanson, Alexia Blalock and Mary-Kathleen Cross repeated on the All-Academic Team.
Among Seawolves men, Tevin Gladden, Michael Mendenhall and Cody Thomas were all repeaters.
Additionally, Northwest Nazarene senior Emily Merioles of Valdez (3.77, psychology: pre-counseling) and Western Oregon senior Bailey Beeson of Soldotna (3.24, exercise science) were All-Academic.
