Alaska Public Media has selected a new CEO and general manager to replace Steve Lindbeck, who announced his retirement last year.
The nonprofit's board of directors unanimously chose Ed Ulman, who currently serves as executive director and general manager for KBTC Public Television in Tacoma, Washington, to fill the spot after a national search.
"His knowledge of public media and his solid community engagement and fundraising experience make him an excellent choice to lead Alaska's flagship public broadcasting organization," said John Duffy, president of Alaska Public Media's board, in a statement released Wednesday.
Lindbeck last month announced his plans to run for Congress as a Democrat, hoping to unseat Rep. Don Young.
Torrie Allen, chief officer of marketing and development at Alaska Public Media, said Ulman's salary will be $147,000 plus benefits.
