Two injured after one car flipped over another at Anchorage roundabout

Two people were injured when a speeding car careened through a roundabout in South Anchorage and flipped across another car on Tuesday afternoon, police say.

Around 5:30 p.m., a man driving a Jeep south on the Seward Highway got off at the Dowling Road exit and was going too fast to make the corner into the roundabout, according to the Anchorage Police Department. According to witnesses, the Jeep went into the eastbound lanes of Dowling Road, hit a pickup truck and then a Toyota sedan, APD says.

The Jeep flipped across the roof of the Toyota and landed on its own roof. The driver and passenger of the Toyota were taken to a hospital, the driver with serious injuries, police say. The occpuants of the Jeep and the pickup truck weren't injured.

Both roundabouts at Dowling Road and the Seward Highway were briefly closed as police investigated the crash, but were reopened by 7:40 p.m., according to APD.
