Prep softball: Dimond halts East's 93-game winning streak

Dimond halted East's 93-game winning streak on Monday with a 3-2 Cook Inlet Conference victory in six innings at Albrecht Fields.

Kaitlin Hanson spearheaded Dimond's victory. She struck out six and went 3 for 3, driving in two runs.

East has won the last four state softball championships.

South 7, Dimond 1

Before Dimond's streak-busting win, South beat the Lynx, 7-1, at Albrecht Fields.

Danni Desjarlais struck out seven in a complete-game three-hitter, and she went 3 for 4. Tristan Tolan and Jessee Ashton each drilled three hits for the Wolverines.

Chugiak wins 2

Chugiak's softball team bagged a pair of CIC victories Monday in Eagle River, beating Eagle River 6-1 and Bartlett 10-3.

Kylie Seagroves struck out four against Eagle River and drove in two runs.

Juju Montgomery struck out 10 in the win against Bartlett and went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Tori Hooper homered, went 2 for 2, scored two runs and drove in two runs.
