Legislature will stay in Juneau, move down the hill from Capitol

JUNEAU -- Alaska legislative leaders have agreed to move to a temporary space in Juneau after May 2, when a renovation project will force lawmakers out of the Capitol.

The Legislature will relocate to the Bill Ray Center, down the hill from the Capitol, according to an email sent to legislative leaders late Monday. Floor debates will be held in a gymnasium in the Terry Miller Building, a block up the hill from the Capitol.

Legislative leaders had toured the Bill Ray Center on Monday afternoon. The relocation plans were first reported by KTUU.

Lawmakers are now on their ninth day of extra time in Juneau.
