Anchorage's non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.5 percent last month, down slightly from February but up from 5.3 percent during March last year.
That was the focus of a report released Monday by the Anchorage Economic Development Corp., which used data from the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Unemployment in Alaska's largest city was lower than the state overall, which had a 6.6 percent seasonally adjusted unemployment rate last month. Unadjusted, that number was at 7.3 percent.
The AEDC predicted earlier this year that Anchorage would lose 1,600 jobs in 2016. That would be about a 1 percent dip from the year before.
Overall, the Labor Department predicts Alaska will lose about 2,500 jobs this year.
