Jamie Ashcroft improved her own UAA record in the 200 meters Saturday at the Triton Invitational in San Diego. In total, the Seawolves concluded the track and field meet with three improved NCAA provisional qualifying times.
Ashcroft, a native of Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia, sprinted to a 24.07, good for sixth in the race. The time is .01 faster than her previous UAA record and ranks 12th in NCAA Division II this season in addition to ranking No. 2 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference history.
UAA's other competitors who improved on their NCAA provisional times were sophomore Tamara Perez in the 800 on the women's side and Tevin Gladden in the high jump on the men's side.
Perez, from Hendaye, France, crossed the finish line in 10th place at 2:10.74 in the 800. It was UAA's fastest time this season.
Gladden, a native of Fairbanks, cleared 6 foot, 9 inches in the high jump — just .5 short of the UAA record and tied for fourth in the GNAC.
