One man was killed in a four-vehicle crash Wednesday morning that closed lanes on Bragaw Street in East Anchorage for several hours.
According to Anchorage police, a white sedan traveling southbound on Bragaw just before 8:30 a.m. crashed into three other vehicles before rolling and coming to a stop upside-down.
"An adult male, who was the driver and single occupant of (the sedan), was pronounced deceased at the scene," police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro wrote in a statement.
Castro said medics had evaluated occupants of the other three vehicles, all of which had been stopped at a red light while heading south on Bragaw. There were no other major injuries in the crash.
Any word on whether drugs or alcohol were involved will come from toxicology tests on the driver of the sedan, whose body was taken to the State Medical Examiner office for an autopsy.
"The follow-up will be piecing together information from the scene and determining the toxicology results," Castro said. "We'll also be doing a mechanical examination of the car to make sure no parts failed."
Police said on Twitter at about noon Wednesday that traffic on Bragaw was flowing again in the wake of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, with the driver's identification to be released pending notification of his next of kin.
