Injured Wasilla man trapped for 6 hours in wrecked pickup

A Wasilla man suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was trapped inside his pickup for hours after a weekend rollover near Point MacKenzie, troopers said.

According to a dispatch from Alaska State Troopers on the incident, troopers responded at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday to Mile 17 of Point MacKenzie Road, where 41-year-old Michael Chadwick's Ford F-250 pickup had rolled.

"Investigation revealed (Chadwick) drove off the roadway, down an embankment and overturned his vehicle onto the roof, entrapping him in the vehicle," troopers wrote. "It was determined Chadwick had been entrapped in his vehicle for approximately 6 hours before anyone had discovered his vehicle (went) off the roadway and overturned."

Chadwick was flown from the scene to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage for treatment. He was listed in fair condition at the hospital Monday morning.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.
