Police are looking for a man who threatened an East Anchorage Wal-Mart employee and stole a television on Presidents Day, and they're asking for public help identifying him based on an image from surveillance video.
Dispatchers received a call from the store on the 7400 block of DeBarr Road just before 7 a.m. Monday, after the suspect tried to leave carrying a 43-inch television, according to police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro.
"The male was confronted by the store manager who asked to see his receipt," Castro wrote in a statement on the case. "The male pulled out a large pair of scissors and threatened the store manager with them. The suspect fled the store with the television."
Police searched the area for the man, described as bearded, over 6 feet tall and with an athletic build, but were unable to find him.
Castro said in an email Tuesday that no injuries were reported during the robbery. Investigators aren't sure whether he ran from the scene or got into a vehicle upon leaving the store.
"The suspect threatened the store manager with the scissors and told him not to come near him," Castro wrote. "He was not pursued by staff or citizens after he made the threat to the (Wal-Mart) employee with the scissors in his hand."
