Prep hockey: Wins for Chugiak, Dimond

Chugiak 5, Service 0

Andrew Beckett and Zachary Plucinski each netted two goals and goalie Jack Walters stopped 25 shots Tuesday to vault Chugiak past Service 5-0 and into fourth place in the Cook Inlet Conference.

Beckett scored twice in a little more than two minutes in the first period at the McDonald Center to spot the Mustangs to a 2-0 lead. He assisted on two later goals.

Plucinski scored twice on the power play and John Hammer also scored with the man advantage for Chugiak.

Service's Kevin Taunton made 26 saves.

The win put Chugiak one spot ahead of Service in the CIC standings with one regular-season game remaining. The fourth-place Mustangs are 7-4-2, and Service is 7-6.

Dimond 4, South 3

Dimond scored all four of its goals in the first period and then held on for a 4-3 win over South in a Cook Inlet Conference hockey game Tuesday at Ben Boeke Arena.

The score was 4-2 after one period and stayed that way until South's Connor Orr made it a one-goal game midway through the third period.

Ryan Perius tallied a goal and an assist and Peter Egrass handed out two assists to lead the Lynx. Tanner Dey, Cody Dearing and Kyle Doscher each added goals for the winners.

Orr and Kolby Klingenmeyer each contributed a goal and an assist for South. Cameron Foraker also scored, and goaltender Max Irwin made 27 saves for the Wolverines.

With the regular season ending Saturday, Dimond is in third place in the CIC with an 8-3-2 record. South is 5-7-1.
