West 3, West Valley 2

Jacob Cummings scored the game-winning goal with less than three minutes to go Friday, lifting West to a 3-2 nonconference hockey victory over West Valley at Ben Boeke Arena.

West Valley led 2-1 after two periods but West used two third-period goals to steal the lead. Chris Lottridge tied the game early in the period and Cummings provided the go-ahead goal with 2 minutes, 49 seconds left to play.

Max Helgeson gave West a 1-0 lead with three minute left in the first period, but West Valley tied it with Gabe Rankin's goal with six seconds left in the period. Caleb Moretz gave the Wolf Pack a 2-1 lead with a second-period goal.

Isaiah Seville recorded 20 saves in the win, and Lane Wood had 32 for West Valley. Cummings scored assists on West's first two goals.

Service 5, Lathrop 0

Service scored three goals in the third period to seal a 5-0 win over Lathrop in a nonconference hockey game Friday at Ben Boeke Arena.

Service's Kevin Taunton stopped 12 shots for the shutout but it was Lathrop goaltender Blake Gutting who really shined — he made 48 saves, including 21 in the third period.

Blaine Sharrock led the Cougars with a goal and an assist. Brandon Prewett, Chris Burnett, Nick Austin and Jack Martensen also contributed goals.
