Kenai skiers capture titles at Hatcher Pass races

Skiers from Kenai Central dominated the two-day Rally in the Valley ski race at the Government Peak Recreation Area at Hatcher Pass.

Addison Gibson and Riana Boonstra gave the Kenai girls a 1-2 finish in the overall standings and Karl Danielson of Kenai topped the boys competition.

Gibson and Danielson won on both days. Gibson's two-day total was 41 seconds faster than Boonstra's, and Danielson's total was 41 seconds faster than runnerup Luke Fritzel of Grace Christian.

Team titles went to the Kenai girls and Grace Christian boys.

The girls raced a 5-K freestyle Friday and a 7.5-K classic on Saturday, with the boys a 7.5-K freestyle Friday and a 10-K classic Saturday.
