Troopers: Man charged with DUI after running into snow berm with kids in truck

An Anchorage man was arrested for driving drunk with children in his vehicle Saturday evening, after Alaska State Troopers say they found his pickup truck stuck in snow in the Willow area.

Troopers said in an online dispatch that John Harrington, 52, was at the wheel of a gray 2004 GMC pickup that troopers discovered stuck in a snow berm in the Caswell Lakes subdivision at about 6 p.m. Saturday. The truck was found near the intersection of Caswell Lakes Loop and Amundsen Road.

"Investigation revealed (Harrington) had been driving while under the influence of alcohol with two juveniles in the vehicle and drove into a snow berm," troopers wrote.

Troopers didn't mention any injuries from the crash in their initial dispatch.

Harrington was arrested on one count of DUI, as well as two first-degree counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held on $500 bail, which a statewide inmate database listed as paid Sunday morning.
