Hanneman, Yeaton collect sprint titles at Besh Cup cross-country ski meet

Reese Hanneman and Jessica Yeaton sprinted to victories Saturday in the first Besh Cup ski races of the season.

Hanneman beat a bunch of his Alaska Pacific University teammates – including his brother, third-place Logan – to take the men's win at Kincaid Park. Preventing a 1-2 Hanneman finished was APU's Eric Packer, who placed second.

Yeaton beat Australian countrymate Casey Wright in the women's final. Yeaton graduated from high school in Anchorage and trains at APU, but she's an Australian citizen, as is Wright.

Taking titles in the 16-17 age group were Molly Gellert and Gus Schumacher. Winners in the 14-15 age group were Kaya Ratzlaff and Dale Baurick.

Racing continues at Kincaid Park on Sunday.
