Alaska State Troopers say the missing vehicle of a man found dead in Fairbanks -- and now believed to be the victim of a homicide -- has been found.
Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said 57-year-old Ronald McKnight's truck -- a 1992 green Ford pickup with a utility bed, a red truck topper and a white stripe down the side -- was located after troopers put out a request for public aid in finding it. She didn't say when or where the discovery occurred.
Troopers received an initial report of the discovery of McKnight's body at his Roland Road home, at about 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 10. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage, and on Wednesday, after an autopsy was completed, troopers said McKnight was the victim of a homicide.
Alaska Bureau of Investigation members declined to answer a number of questions relayed to Peters about the case Thursday, including how McKnight was killed, whether troopers believe his killing was targeted and if anything else had been taken from his home. They only gave a time frame for when they believe McKnight's truck was stolen.
That happened "after McKnight was killed," Peters wrote.
